Nav Bhatia Superfan Becomes The First Fan To Be A Part Of The Basketball Hall Of Fame

There are viewers of sport, then there are fans, and then there are people like Nav Bhatia, the superfans. Nav Bhatia’s love for the game of basketball has made him a part of basketball history.

Nav Bhatia became the first-ever turban-wearing man, and the first-ever fan to be memorialized in the new superfan gallery for the 2020 induction class by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on May 15, 2021. Now, a turban-wearing man is part of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Nav Bhatia is the superfan of the professional Basketball team, Toronto Raptors, which also competes in the NBA. Originally from Delhi, India, Nav Bhatia moved to Canada in 1984, where he has established himself as a successful businessman and a superfan of the Raptors.

Nav received this title due to his unprecedented love for the team for years. He has attended every home game of the Raptors in the franchise’s 25-year long history, which makes him the team’s ‘biggest fan’.

After the Toronto Raptors won the NBA Championship in the 2018-19 season, Nav became the first-ever fan to receive an official NBA Championship ring.

The superfan thanked his wife Arvinder and his daughter Tia for making the ‘ultimate sacrifice’ for him.

In a special message, Nav thanked Isiah Thomas, a legendary basketball player, for changing his life years ago.
