NCP Chief Sharad Pawar: Conspiracy To Spoil Peace & Communal Harmony In The Country

NCP chief Sharad Pawar while speaking at an Iftaar gathering organised at Islam Gymkhana in south Mumbai, has said that a concerted attempt was being made to disturb communal harmony in the country. Along with Pawar, the other NCP leaders, including Maharashtra Home Minister Dilli Walse Patil, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad and MP Supriya Sule were present.

“A similar attempt to foster communal riots was being made in Maharashtra but the Maha Vikas Aghadi government is committed to maintaining peace in the state”, Pawar further added.

NCP chief Pawar even accused the Centre of not doing enough to rein in “troublemakers” in Delhi.

“There was also an attempt to spoil the atmosphere in Delhi. Whatever happened (there) was not good. But my complaint is that, even if Kejriwal’s AAP has its government in Delhi, the responsibility of the law and order there does not rest with him but with the Centre. In spite of this, there were attacks on a particular section of the society. There was a conspiracy to demolish their houses and spoil the peace in the country,” Pawar said.

Pawar was referring to the recent communal clashes in the national capital’s Jahangirpuri area, where incidents of stone-pelting and vehicles being set on fire were reported earlier this month during a religious procession on Hanuman Jayanti. The NCP leader underlined that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the Centre and added: “If such an attempt is made in Maharashtra, Hindus and Muslims will come together and will not allow anyone to do so.”
