He was later promoted to Subedar in 2021 and Subedar Major in 2022, making consistent strides both in his sport and in service to the nation. His honorary promotion to Lieutenant Colonel is a recognition of his discipline, excellence, and immense contribution to Indian athletics.
The javelin superstar created history at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, becoming the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in track and field. Neeraj Chopra followed that historic win with a gold at the World Athletics Championships 2023 and a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, further solidifying his place among the world’s top athletes.
