Netflix Shelved Wamiqa Gabbi Starrer ‘Baahubali: Before The Beginning’ After Spending 150 Crore On Pre-Production

After the massive success of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, the makers of the film have decided to release its prequel titled ‘Baahubali: Before The Beginning’. The upcoming show was supposed to be a web series showcasing the rise of Baahubali’s mother.

Reports suggest that a few months ago, director Deva Katta who was supposed to helm the project had walked out in between. Reportedly, the makers hadn’t liked quite a bit of the stuff that he had planned, and then, Mrunal Thakur who was roped in for a lead role walked out of the project too. Apart from Mrunal Thakur, actress Wamiqa Gabbi and South superstar Nayanthara too were roped in for her digital debut.

But now some unusual information has been pounding all over the internet. According to a report of Pinkvilla, the work done on the ground in terms of pre-production ‘couldn’t exactly be in sync with the vision that the streaming platform had for this period drama’.

Hence, they decided to shelve the project for the time being. After spending almost 150 crore, the team took a call to stop the project even before the shoot instead of investing another Rs 200 crore.

Reportedly Netflix is currently reexamining the project so that they can bring the best version of the incredible story. The team has also hired new creative producers and it is speculated that the company named Bombay Fables, which recently made Decoupled will take over the series.

Baahubali: Before The Beginning will be a prequel to the hit franchise that starred Prabhas in the titular role.
