From Khufiya To Guns & Gulabs: Netflix’s Tudum Event Showcases Upcoming & Exciting Indian Projects

Popular OTT streaming platform Netflix recently held its Tudum 2022 event. It is an annual exhibition of upcoming projects/fan event that also shares a name with the streamer’s embattled editorial website, and is upon us once again to give the world its first look at a number of projects. And when it comes to India, Netflix has showcased and released teasers of various upcoming Indian projects.

Netflix showcased a total of 12 Indian projects and each one of them seems super exciting. The names of the projects are Monica, O My Darling, Rana Naidu, Khufiya, Class, Scoop, Kathal, Soup, CAT, Qala, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale and Guns & Gulaabs.

Monica, O My Darling

Star Cast:  Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Rajkummar Rao
Director:  Vasan Bala

The teaser of Monica O My Darling surely is really witty to grab the attention of the masses. Huma Qureshi is introduced in the teaser as a casino dancer, and she is later joined by Rajkumar Rao. The 1 minute 45 seconds long teaser serves us pure retro Bollywood vibes. 

Rana Naidu

Star Cast: Rana Daggubati, Daggubati Venkatesh, Surveen Chawla
Director: Karan Anshuman and Suparn S Varma

The teaser of Rana Naidu is bliss for action lovers. It looks like the project will be pure bliss with action, drama and thrill. The fight between Rana Daggubati and Dagubati Venkatesh will surely keep you hooked.

Khufiya

Star Cast: Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi

The teaser of Khufiya will not help you with understanding anything about the story. But the teaser is highly impressive; it teases you with an extreme level of suspense and craving for more. A voiceover by Tabu introduces a girl who e]we expect will be Wamiqa Gabbi. 

Class

Star Cast: Gurfateh Pirzada, Anjali Sivaraman, Ayesha Kanga, Cyaawal Singh & more
Director: Ashim Ahluwalia

Class will be a murder mystery based on the story of a small-town guy who gets admission to a high-standard school in New Delhi. The story will follow an investigation after a murder takes place.

Scoop

Star Cast: Karishma Tanna, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub & more

‘A journalist’s life takes a 360 because of the very system that made her who she is. Will she fight or will she concede?’, says the teaser description of Scoop. Scoop will be a thriller drama story which will revolve around the life of a journalist. 

Kathal

Star Cast: Sanya Malhotra, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz
Director: Yashowardhan Mishra

Sanya Malhotra in the role of a Police Inspector is on a hunt to investigate a case of a local politician’s missing jackfruits (Kathal).

Soup

Star Cast: Manoj Bajpayee, Konkona Sen Sharma, Nasser, Sayaji Shinde
Director: Abhishek Chaubey

Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Soup follows a story of a chef who cooks up a master plan to replace her husband with her lover. But her plans seem to face various twists and turns in the execution. Soup has been directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Honey Trehan and Chetana Kowshik. From the teaser only, it looks like a promising dark comedy thriller.

CAT

CAT starring Randeep Hooda, hails the story of Gurnam, who is forced to become an civilian informant again to save the life of his brother, due to which he comes across his dark past. The teaser looks fantastic. Randeep Hooda, who never fails to impress the audience, is once again looking strong. CAT has been helmed by the director trio of Balwinder Singh Janjua, Rupinder Chahal and Jimmy Singh.

Qala

Star Cast: Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, Babil Khan and Amit Sial
Director: Anvitaa Dutt

Qala is a musical drama set in the 1930-40, and boasts a story of the young eponymous playback singer. The teaser hints at the complications in the relationship of a daughter(Triptii) & mother(Swastika). The show revolves around the efforts of Triptii to earn her mother’s love. The music in the 1.35-minute long teaser has raised the expectation sky-high. So at least for now we can say that we are going to get a good musical drama. Directed by Anvitaa Dutt. Qala stars Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, Babil Khan and Amit Sial.

Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga

The teaser hints at the complications in the relationship of a daughter(Triptii) & mother(Swastika). The show revolves around the efforts of Triptii to earn her mother’s love. Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale

This is a special wedding documentary about the love story of Nayanthara, who recently got married in a fairy tale wedding to her longtime boyfriend Vignesh Shivan. Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale will show the untold part of Nayanthara and Vignesh love story. In the teaser, a highlight of this power couple talking about each other, their career and lives is shown. This documentary is directed by Gautam Vasudevan and produced by The Rowdy Pictures.

Guns & Gulaabs

Star Cast: Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, TJ Bhanu and Gulshan Devaiah
Director: Raj & DK

Guns & Gulaabs, a dark comedy thriller set in the 1990s. It stars Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, TJ Bhanu and Gulshan Devaiah. In the teaser, Rajkumar Rao talks about how everyone has a dark side which should never come in front. The teaser hints that it is going to be a blend of love, crime and a ton of mid-’90s nostalgia. Guns & Gulaabs is directed by Raj & DK, the director of ‘The Family Man’. This is definitely going to be a heck of a watch.
