Netflix TV App Update Brings Multilingual Audio Support for a Better Streaming Experience

Netflix has updated its TV app, allowing viewers to watch movies and shows in multiple languages. The streaming platform announced that users can now choose from all available language options when watching content on smart TVs. Previously, this feature was only available on mobile devices and web browsers. With content in over 30 languages, Netflix already supports language selection for both audio and subtitles across different platforms.

The introduction of multilingual audio support was highlighted in a post on Netflix’s website, addressing the thousands of language-related requests it receives each month. While this update enhances the TV app experience, some features remain exclusive to certain platforms. For instance, the “Browse by Language” option is currently limited to the PC version.

Netflix reports that nearly a third of its streamed content is non-English. Shows like Berlin in Spanish, Squid Game in Korean, and All Quiet on the Western Front in German have gained global popularity. These titles are also available in English and various other languages to cater to a wider audience.

At the time of the update, multilingual audio support was not yet available on the latest versions of Netflix for Android TV and tvOS. In India, the app currently allows users to select from the original language, English, Hindi, and a few regional languages. The feature may be rolled out gradually or enabled through a server-side update.

Netflix has also introduced HDR10+ support for AV1-enabled TVs and streaming devices. Subscribers on the platform’s premium plan can now enjoy improved picture quality with enhanced dynamic range, further refining the viewing experience.
