Majha area of Punjab is known for its unique dialect and bossy attitude. We have many Punjabi artists in the industry from this area and we are very well aware that Nimrat Khaira is one among them. She hails from Gurdaspur area of Majha belt and has unquestionably learnt the dialect of the same area since beginning.
Where everyone loves this accent of the actress, on the other hand she faced an issue while dubbing for one of her films due to her language. Recently, when Nimrat Khaira was on the ‘Destiny Tour’, she revealed in an interview about the same. When she was asked about how she deals with her Majha accent while shooting for the films, she had a story to tell.
Nimrat Khaira revealed that when she shot for Teeja Punjab, she spoke the majha accent throughout the shooting and later when it was the time for dubbing, she did it in the same way. Nimrat did not realize that she is speaking a dialect out of her character even for once, nor the studio guy, who was managing her dubbing, realized it as he himself belonged to the Majha belt.
Later, when the makers and other team members saw some glimpse of the dubbing, they caught it at a glance that the actress has gone out of her character zone to dub Teeja Punjab and has dubbed the entire movie in Majha accent. For this reason, a particular point was added in the movie that Nimrat’s character, Mohni, is from Tarn Taran city of Majha. And this later justified the hours of dubbing by the actress.
Nimrat Khaira even released a song in the same dialect from her debut album Nimmo which was titled as ‘Ki Karde Je’. And a song with Diljit Dosanjh, ‘What Ve’, both the songs had Arjan Dhillon’s lyrics and was loved by many.
Teeja Punjab was Nimrat Khaira’s third movie which starred Amberdeep Singh in the lead role along with her and was based on the farmers’ protest. It gained Nimrat a good level of recognition as an actress and her acting was highly appreciated by everyone.
