‘No One Is Above Law’ Says Delhi Court After Honey Singh Fails To Appear In The Court

Singer Yo Yo Honey Singh failed to appear in the court before it in connection with the domestic abuse case filed against him by his wife Shalini Talwar. The court also directed Yo Yo Honey Singh to appear before it on the next date of hearing on September 3. 

The court told the singer’s lawyer, “No one is above the law. Surprised to see how this case is being taken so lightly.”

Honey Singh moved an application seeking exemption from appearance in the case, citing medical reasons. His wife, Shalini Talwar, appeared physically before the court.

On this, the court told the lawyer of the singer, ‘Honey Singh has not been able to appear in the court and he has not even filed the income affidavit and you are not fully prepared. Honey Singh has been given one more chance to appear in court by the Metropolitan Magistrate. Delhi Court has directed Yo Yo Honey Singh to appear on September 3, the next date of hearing.

Meanwhile, Shalini Talwar has filed a domestic violence case against her singer husband and sought ₹20 crores as compensation from him under the Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act. She had alleged that Singh and his family members were brash and violent to her and that Singh has a history of criminal intimidation, hurt, brutal violence towards people who do not give in to his demands.
