‘Nobody Liked The Idea, I Had To Take The Initiative To Turn Writer’, Gippy Grewal

One of the most prominent actors of the Punjabi entertainment industry, Gippy Grewal shares a massive fan following. The star has tried his hand in almost every domain, be it acting, singing, production or direction. Not just this, his cinematic contribution in all the forms have been lauded by the audience too. Other than this, the actor has donned a hat of a writer too, but do you know what prompted him to become a writer?

The actor had once revealed the reason that he turned scriptwriter when he wrote the Punjabi film ‘Ardaas’. He says he had to write the script because it was an idea he wanted to work on for a long time.

Earlier I used to give away my ideas to other writers. When I told other writers to prepare a script, no one liked the idea, so I had to write the script on my own and this established me as a writer as well,” he says. The film based on many social issues was not only lauded by his fans but many prominent artists too.

Moreover, he said that while directing Ardaas in 2016, he got an idea to write a film on marriages. So, he wrote Manje Bistre. And this is how the superstar actor, producer and director turned into an excellent writer.
