Noida Man D*es After Car Falls Into Deep Drain; Locals Blame GPS Error

A tragic accident in Greater Noida claimed the life of a 31-year-old man after his car plunged into a 30-foot-deep drain. The victim, identified as Bharat Singh, was a station master residing in Delhi’s Mandawali, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on March 1 in Sector P4 of Greater Noida while Singh was en route to attend a wedding in Rani Rampur. Reports from local residents suggest he may have been misled by faulty navigation on his device. However, the police have stated that there is no concrete evidence to confirm this claim, as his mobile phone has not yet been recovered.

According to Vijay Kumar, in-charge of the Beta 2 police station, authorities received a distress call around 3:30 PM on Saturday, alerting them about a vehicle that had fallen into a drain near Kendriya Vihar.

Lack of warning signs at the dead-end of the road might have contributed to the accident, potentially causing Singh to lose control of the vehicle, Kumar noted.

Singh’s friend, Nikhil, said he rushed to the accident site from Delhi after being informed by the police. “By the time I reached, efforts were already underway to retrieve the car. His body was recovered with the help of a crane,” he said.

Despite the swift response of bystanders, including delivery personnel who attempted to assist, Singh could not be saved. Saurabh, a delivery worker who reportedly witnessed the crash, mentioned that the vehicle was speeding before it veered off the road and fell into the drain.

Locals have raised concerns over the absence of proper warning signs near the drain, arguing that it creates confusion for drivers relying on GPS navigation. Some believe such oversight has led to similar accidents in the area, underscoring the need for immediate safety measures.
