Recently, a list of World’s Top 50 Best Hotels 2023 have been crowned by the founders of World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Bars and an Italian property has bagged the first position. Out of the 50 properties, 21 hotels are from the European continent and 1 hotel from India has earned its place in the list as well.
The process of ranking is based on the first person experience of 580 jurors. Each juror files a vote for the top 7 hotels which come in order of preference. These hotels have to be the properties these jurors have stayed in the past 24 months.
Lake Como’s Passalacqua, a tiny 24 rooms hotel, has grabbed the first place in the list. The property just opened in June 2022 after the restoration of an 18th century building which has hosted many dignified guests like Napoleon Bonaparte, Winston Churchill and Vincenzo Bellini.
The owners of this property, Paolo, Antonella and Valentina De Santis have turned the building into a true labour of love with 24 rooms that give you a feel of a private home. With ‘spectacular terraced gardens running down to the water’, this property deserved the first place in the list.
Which Indian hotel has been ranked in the World’s top 50 best hotels?
Among the list of World’s top 50 hotels, only one Indian hotel has earned a position. Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra grabbed the 45th position in the list and it is the only Indian hotel that made it in the top 50. The Oberoi Amarvilas is a luxury hotel in Agra, Uttar Pradesh that offers an unrestricted view of Taj Mahal from all the rooms.
The hotel is inspired by the Mughal Palace designs, terraced lawns, reflection pools and pavilions. Oberoi Amarvilas was built in 2000 and with its enchanting beauty, the property has attracted a lot of celebrity guests including international sensation Brad Pitt.
This property is located just 600 meters from the Taj Mahal. Oberoi Amarvilas look no less than a castle itself. With its tranquil experience and warm hospitality, the hotel surely makes you feel like you are the king or a queen.
