Operation Sindoor LIVE: Pakistan Fires in Kupwara; Border Tensions Flare Amid Military Operation

The situation at the India-Pakistan border turned volatile yet again as Pakistani forces opened fire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday. This development comes while India’s Operation Sindoor remains underway, aimed at targeting terror networks along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to official sources, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked shelling in the early hours, using mortars and small arms. The sudden attack has created panic among residents in Kupwara’s border villages, many of whom had to flee to nearby shelters.

The Indian Army swiftly responded, engaging in a retaliatory exchange to neutralize threats and protect the civilian population. Security forces in the region are maintaining high vigilance, with reinforcements moved to sensitive zones.

While there are no confirmed reports of casualties, damages to property and heightened anxiety among villagers have been reported. Schools in affected areas have been closed temporarily, and emergency protocols have been activated.

This flare-up is closely linked to the larger military operation Sindoor which has been active in the Kashmir Valley following recent terror-related incidents, including the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Defence officials have called Pakistan’s actions a breach of ceasefire norms and reaffirmed India’s commitment to protecting its borders. As shelling continues in sporadic bursts, the area remains on edge, with civilians hoping for a return to calm.
