Pakistani Intruder Attempting to Cross Border Shot De*d by BSF in Gujarat

On Friday night, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully neutralised a Pakistani intruder trying to enter Indian territory in Banaskantha district, Gujarat. According to an official BSF statement, the troops noticed a suspicious individual crossing the International Border and moving towards the border fence. Despite warnings, the intruder continued to advance, forcing the BSF personnel to open fire, resulting in the intruder being neutralised on the spot.

This incident comes amid heightened alertness along the border following a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, involving cross-border shelling after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. Operation Sindoor was initiated in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POJK). In Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer sector, the BSF has maintained a strong presence as part of the ongoing operation.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yogendra Singh Rathore reaffirmed the BSF’s critical role in safeguarding national security. “BSF is the first line of defence and is always alert on the border. 5-6 years after its formation, the India-Pakistan war took place in 1971, and even then, it proved its usefulness. We were victorious during the Kargil war too. When the incident happened on 22nd April, when they (terrorists) killed our innocent citizens, after that, we were ready to give them a befitting reply. We stood by the decision taken by the Government of India, and we were fully prepared so that we could stop any misadventure right there,” he said.

BSF Officer Jaipal Singh highlighted their preparedness to tackle new threats, especially drone incursions during Operation Sindoor. “During Operation Sindoor, before Operation Sindoor and in the future, BSF has always been ready to perform its duty for the security of the country. During Operation Sindoor, the drone activities increased a lot. The enemy sent drones and shells, and we used our equipment tactfully and neutralised their drones…The Indian Air Force did a very good job during this. Many air bases of Pakistan were damaged. This is a matter of pride for us.”

The BSF’s efforts were supported closely by the Indian Air Force, which successfully targeted Pakistani airbases, damaging crucial enemy infrastructure. Following these events, India and Pakistan have reached a mutual understanding to halt military actions after a call between Pakistan’s DGMO and his Indian counterpart.
