If you really are a fan of Bollywood, you must know the difference between random commercial movies and real quality content. And in such a case, we are sure you have also watched and loved Udta Punjab. The film which won 3 Filmfare awards and various others was appreciated by the masses.
Udta Punjab featured Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh (marked Bollywood debut) in the leading roles. The performances of all these actors were loved by the critics, but Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt earned the maximum applause.
While Shahid played a drug addict celebrity in the film, Alia Bhatt played the role of a migrant girl from Bihar. But do you know that Bollywood’s current sensational and fan favorite actor Pankaj Tripathi was also associated with this project?
Not directly, but indirectly Pankaj Tripathi was a part of Udta Punjab. And to reveal more, we must tell you that if you liked Alia’s performance in the film, the credit for it goes to none other than Pankaj Tripathi.
Actually, Pankaj Tripathi was the tutor of Alia Bhatt for Udta Punjab. Not in the film, but off the camera. He was the man who helped and taught Alia to master the Bhojpuri language and dialect.
Speaking to MidDay about the same, Pankaj Tripathi said, ‘All the credit for Alia’s brilliant performance goes to only Alia. I was just her teacher, but she was a bright student.’
He also quoted, ‘Shuruaat Mein Alia Sab Mein Atak Rahi Thi.. Kyunki Kabhi Bhojpuri Suna Nahi, Dekha Nahi… Toh Main Pehle Bolta Tha, Wo Record Kar Leti Thi Apne Mobile Mein, Aur Wo Ghar Pe Sunte Rehti, Jo Maine Jaise Line Boli Hain..’
This off-screen incident from Udta Punjab has made us appreciate Pankaj Tripathi even more. We knew that he is an amazing actor and human being, but now we also know that he is an incredible teacher too.
