Whether for good or some unwanted reasons Shahrukh’s Pathaan, is making headlines for a long time now. Well amid the chaos, Pathaan is finally released in cinemas a day prior to India’s Republic Day. Along with Shahrukh Khan, Pathaan stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana and some other brilliant actors. Pathaan is the fourth installment of YRF spy universe. Well. Without any further do now, let’s begin this Pathaan movie review, that we have penned exclusively for you. Don’t worry it’s spoiler free…

Story And Screenplay

Pathaan is the story of an ex-army officer turned RAW agent Pathaan (Shahrukh Khan), who locks his horns with a powerful and ambitious villain, Jim (John Abraham), with a kick-ass lady agent, Rubina (Deepika Padukone) on his side.

Pathaan is given the task of taking down Jim, a former RAW agent now turned rogue, who leads “Outfit X”, a terrorist organization planning nuclear attacks on India. How far can Pathaan go to save his country? And Will Pathaan be able to accomplish the task of saving the nation? This is what this movie is all about.

Being honest, we find this story an average one. Yes, no doubt it shows the protagonist and antagonist in a great frame but it surely lacks a spark to be called a perfect spy thriller. It does give you goosebumps at moments and a sense of patriotism that is unmatchable.

Movie’s screenplay is really outstanding. It can be described as an Indian version of Mission Impossible. We really liked it. However, at times the action overshadows the emotional and sensitivity of the storyline. But nevertheless, the movie doesn’t bore you at any single minute with a lot happening around.

Acting & Performance

Taking our pen ahead in this Pathaan movie review with our remarks on the performances of the movie. Who will you start this segment with when King Khan is here? Shahrukh has returned on big screens after 4 years and his comeback felt like he never left. His charisma, intensity and the ability to deliver a lot without even speaking a single word, just took the level of this action thriller way too high. You must have seen Shahrukh doing action in the past, but this time it’s different. He is just terrific. Clearly, if anyone can match the level of swag Shahrukh brought to the Character of Pathaan, it’s Shahrukh only.

We all know what Shahrukh brought to the table is unmatchable but in Pathaan, the one that has impressed us the most is movie’s main antagonist John Abraham. John’s character Jim was written very well and he has done full justice to the role from his side as well.

Deepika as Rubina is also mind-blowing. In her solo scenes, she is amazing as a kick-ass lady agent. However, we felt this time her chemistry with Shahrukh was not very engaging but overpushed. Among the three main actors, the supporting cast has also done a decent job.

Direction

Siddharth Anand as a director has done a pretty good job. It must have been a tough job for him to present Shahrukh in such a great light, who is making his comeback after a long time. Anand has covered almost every aspect of direction brilliantly. Yes, he could have focused more on the story to make it more indulging and intense. But the way he managed his cast is truly commendable.

VFx And Action

Pathaan will go down in history books as one of the finest action thrillers made in bollywood with a proper use of VFx. We really liked the fact that, even though there were some over the top scenes in the movie, VFx was still making it look better.

Full marks to Action choreography of the film. The kind of action sequences Pathaan came with is not something that you see in a bollywood film. There were some scenes that actually looked like a hollywood thriller or a superhero film. We can say action is undoubtedly the best part of this movie that eventually overshadowed other important things including emotions.

Song & Music

Pathaan’s songs have already made buzz across the globe. ‘Besharam Rang’ & ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ have been in our playlist since the day they were released but on big screens they sound way better. If we talk about the movie’s BGM then we must say that Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara have really produced a delightful piece of music that compliments the movie’s scenes at every single second.

Overall

Now it’s time for the final words for the gigantic Shahrukh Khan’s comeback film. So Pathaan in our opinion is a film that really suited Shahrukh Khan to make his return and not only the hype but it really has good content as well. Pathaan boasts a good combination of action, thrill, patriotism and performance. This makes Pathaan a good entertaining film. Pathaan also has a special cameo appearance that will definitely give you chills in your stomach. Team Kiddaan would rate Shahrukh Khan’s fierce return film ‘Pathaan’ 3.5 stars out of 5.

If you are a SRK fan and were waiting for his big screen return, we would advise you not to waste a single minute, just book your ticket, visit the nearest theater,  grab some snacks and enjoy Pathaan…
