Ribha Sood has been given the position of Young Professional in the Government of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in New Delhi. Ribha’s new position in the ministry will begin in the last week of July 2023, and she brings extensive experience in journalism, writing, interviewing, and public relations.
Until June of this year, Ribha worked as the manager of public relations for the Chandigarh-based regional entertainment channel Pitaara TV and the over-the-top platform (OTT) Chaupal. Ribha, who entered the media in 2018 as a Correspondent with the Hindustan Times in Mohali, gives a fresh viewpoint to the development of the Central Government’s communication needs across media platforms.
A reporter, editor, columnist and entertainment publicist, Ribha is an alumnus of MCM DAV College for Women, Panjab University, Chandigarh and holds degrees in public administration, education, literature and mass communication, providing her a strong career foundation.
The prestigious post of Young Professional in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is given to young experts (between 18-32 years) to provide professional inputs in policy making. Only a few candidates from all over the country are selected by the Competent Authority in the Ministry based on written examination and personal interaction. In 2019, the Ministry invited application for 35 Young Professionals, however, this years the number of applications for the post of Young Professionals has increased to 75, providing more opportunities to the youth.
