The Pune Police have intensified their search for Dattatray Ramdas Gade, the prime accused in the Swargate bus rape case, deploying drones and canine units in Shirur taluka of Pune district. News agency PTI, citing officials, reported that at least 13 teams from Pune city police are actively pursuing Gade, a resident of Gunat village.
The 26-year-old victim was assaulted inside a stationary Shiv Shahi bus of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) at Pune’s Swargate bus station on February 25. Authorities suspect that Gade is hiding in the sugarcane fields of Gunat village, prompting an extensive search operation.
More than 100 police personnel, including senior officials, arrived at Gunat village in the afternoon to coordinate the manhunt. Drones are being used for aerial surveillance, and a dog squad has been deployed to aid in tracking the accused.
Additionally, the Pune Police have issued a poster featuring Gade’s details and announced a reward of ₹1 lakh for anyone providing credible information about his whereabouts.
