Punjab: AAP Government Approves Policy To Regularise Contractual Workers Here’s All You Need To Know!

As per the latest development, the Punjab Cabinet has approved a policy aimed at regulating the services of contract, temporary, daily and hourly teachers who have completed ten years of service. Moreover, the official announcement states that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has decided to regularize its services by placing about 9,000 teachers in special cadres. Under this scheme, the beneficiary is treated as a new employee until he/she is 58 years old.

According to an official press note, the decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann. Furthermore, the press note states that his three-member committee led by cabinet minister Harpal Cheema, set up to consider ways and means of normalizing the services of contract workers, submitted a report to the Cabinet, which has been accepted.

In a programme at Sri Anandpur Sahib, after the meeting, CM Bhagwant Mann stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has decided to regularise 8,736 contractual teachers. “The services of 5,442 education service providers, 1,130 inclusive education teachers as well as others, will be regularised,” said CM Mann. Additionally, there are around 35,000 contractual workers in various departments of the Punjab government. 

The regularisation of the contractual workers in Punjab, has always been one of the burning issues in Punjab. Moreover, the Aam Aadmi Party, during the Punjab assembly elections, promised to regularise all contractual workers after coming to Punjab. Now the Bhagwant Mann government’s policies and decisions in this direction, are a big relief for the contractual workers in the state.
