Punjab: AAP MLA Baljinder Kaur Slapped By Her Husband, Video Went Viral On Social Media

The rising cases of crime against women is a matter of concern in the country. Moreover, this becomes a more serious issue with an MLA being slapped by her husband. Reportedly, Baljinder Kaur, an AAP MLA from Punjab, has been allegedly slapped by her husband, as per the video viral on social media.

The people were shocked to see an MLA getting assaulted. Brinder Singh, the president of Punjab Youth Congress, in a tweet, condemned the incident.

In the viral video, the AAP MLA Baljinder Kaur was surrounded by a group of men, having a heated argument, after which her husband slapped her. However, the Punjab State Commission For Women has taken note of the incident. Manisha Gulati, the chairperson of the committee, stated, “We have seen the video, and will take a suo motu notice. It’s unfortunate that a lady who raises people’s issues gets harrassed at home.”

Baljinder Kaur is the Aam Aadmi Party’s MLA from Talwandi Sabo assembly. She joined the anti-corruption movement of India in 2011 and joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2012. Furthermore, she even contested the assembly bypoll from Talwandi Sabo in 2014 but faced a humiliating defeat.

Before stepping into politics, Baljinder was a professor of English at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib. In 2009, she did M. Phil from Punjabi University, Patiala. Baljinder married Sukhraj Singh in 2019, who is also an Aam Aadmi Party leader. 

MLA Baljinder Kaur getting slapped by her husband has become a heated issue in Punjab now. With the video going viral, netizens have been condemning the incident, demanding action against her husband. 

The viral video is dated July 10, which came into light now. However, the two-time MLA from Talwandi Sabo, has not registered any FIR or complaint against her husband, though the Punjab State Women’s Commission has stepped in.
