Punjab: Akali Dal Alleges Threat To Majithia’s Life From ADGP Sidhu

The Shiromani Akali Dal has alleged a threat to former minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s life from ADGP Harpreet Singh Sidhu. Senior Akali leaders Daljit Singh Cheema and Maheshinder Singh Grewal, while addressing a press conference, highlighted the letter written by Bikram Singh Majithia’s wife Ganieve Kaur – the current MLA from Majitha assembly constituency, demanding the immediate removal of ADGP Sidhu from the post.

The Akali leaders said that the Majihia family as well as the Akali Dal doubts of Bikram Singh Majithia being implicated in another “false case” soon. Majithia’s wife Ganieve Kaur has written a letter to DGP as well as CM Bhagwant Mann on the same issue. The Akalis alleged that despite being the most “incompetent” officer, Harpreet Sidhu was used by the erstwhile Congress govt to settle its personal grudges with Bikram Singh Majithia, now the current AAP govt is doing the same.

As quoted by the Akali leaders in their press conference, “Hapreet Sidhu is a close relative of Bikram Singh Majithia. Sidhu’s mother and Majithia’s aunt were real sisters. The terms between both the families are bad for generations as Sidhu’s family blames Majithia’s family for the death of their aunt.” The Akalis even alleged that Majithia was subjected to inhuman conditions in the Patiala jail. With this, the Akalis have demanded the immediate removal of ADGP Sidhu from the post.

Bikram Singh Majithia is a senior Akali leader and former minister in the erstwhile Akali Dal govt in Punjab. He is currently lodged in Patiala Jail for his alleged involvement in a drug case.
