Punjab: Big Jolt To Congress, 4 Former Ministers To Join The BJP Today

The Congress party is set to face a major Jolt in Punjab today, with four senior leaders and former ministers Rajkumar Verka, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sunder Sham Arora and Gurpreet Singh Kangar jumping ship. As per the media reports, these 4 former ministers will join the Bharatiya Janata Party today.

Sources claim that somewhere former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and senior leader Sunil Jakhar have played a major role behind-the-curtains over these detections. The Congress party, which was once the most strong party in Punjab, has been facing a continuous downfall since Captain Amarinder Singh’s resignation from CM post before the assembly elections held in February.

Though Captain Amarinder himself lost the assembly poll from Patiala, but since his resignation, heavy infighting in the Congress camp is seen in Punjab. Now with four former ministers and senior Congress leaders – Rajkumar Verka, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sunder Sham Arora and Gurpreet Singh Kangar joining the BJP, would definitely strengthen the saffron party in Punjab.

The BJP, which used to be in an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal, is moving ahead and expanding itself in the state since the Akali Dal parted its ways and left the NDA alliance due to the farm bills. Now the Saffron party, for the first time, is focusing to expand on its own and strengthen its roots in Punjab, in which former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Sunil Jakhar are playing a key role.

Though the PPCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has said that such defections won’t affect the Congress party, the induction of these 4 leaders in the Bharatiya Janata Party would benefit the Saffron camp in Punjab.
