Punjab Boy Gets Army Sponsorship After Serving Lassi To Soldiers In Heat, During Operation Sindoor

Shvan Singh, a 10‑year‑old from Mamdot village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, has been granted full education sponsorship by the Indian Army. During May’s Operation Sindoor along the Indo-Pak border, Shvan served chilled lassi, tea, water, and ice to tired soldiers—without being asked. Moved by his act, the Army’s Golden Arrow Division offered to fund all his schooling and academic needs. Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar personally honored him at Ferozepur Cantonment.

Shvan helped alongside his father during the gunfire-filled operation, often walking under scorching heat. “He stayed fearless,” said his mother, Santosh Rani, as Army personnel praised the young boy’s spirit. Western Command called him the “Youngest Civil Warrior,” saying his support symbolized the courage of border villagers. The Army confirmed that everything from fees to books will be covered for his education.

Shvan now dreams of wearing the uniform himself. “I want to become a fauji,” he said. His village celebrates not just a kind deed but a child ready to serve. The story highlights how small acts can inspire big change—especially in places where patriotism lives in every home.
