Punjab Celebrates Punjabi Cinema Day For The First Time In History

29 March is the day of colours for the whole country. The nation celebrates the festival of colours, Holi, on the day. But it is an even more remarkable date for the Punjabi cinema. In addition to Holi, Punjabi is going to celebrate its first ever Punjabi Cinema Day on the date.

On 29 March 1935, the first-ever Punjabi film “Ishq-E-Punjab Mirza Saheba” was released in the Navrang Talkies of Lahore. To make the day memorable, big Punjabi celebrities will be reaching the VR Punjab mall in Mohali.

The event is going to be organized by the “North Zone Film and Tv Artist Association” presided by Actor Gurpreet Ghuggi. General Secretary Malkit Rauni, Chief Pattern Yograj Singh, Director Avatar Singh and Deepak Gupta will be some prominent personalities in the event.

The first-ever National-Award-winning Punjabi film “Chaudhary Karnail Singh” will be featured in a special show at the event for the audience to encourage and enlighten the youth about the Punjabi Cinema’s history.

This is the first time Punjabi Cinema Day is being recognised and celebrated in Punjab. The association has planned even bigger programmes for the next year. The event will be expanded into a 3-day show from 27 March to 29 March.
