Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday sent another batch of government school leaders to Singapore as part of the state’s ongoing Punjab principals Singapore training initiative.

A group of 30 principals from government schools departed for Singapore to attend a specialised programme at the Principal Academy. The initiative aims to expose school leaders to international teaching methods and strengthen Punjab’s public education system. With the latest batch, the state has now sent over 200 principals abroad under the Punjab principals Singapore training programme.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mann said he met the principals before their departure and wished them success.

“Today, another batch of principals from government schools in Punjab departed for Singapore for training. I met them on this occasion, wished them well, and encouraged them to make the trip a success,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the government is focused on delivering world-class education to children studying in government schools through the Punjab principals Singapore training programme.

Eight Batches Sent For Training

According to the Chief Minister, the latest group marks the eighth batch under the Punjab principals Singapore training initiative.

So far, 234 government school principals have travelled to Singapore for leadership and education training. The programme focuses on global classroom practices, school management strategies and modern learning methods.

Mann also highlighted that the selection process remains transparent. District Education Officers verify the shortlisted candidates before final approval.

Education officials believe the Punjab principals Singapore training programme will help principals introduce innovative teaching approaches and strengthen school administration once they return.

Punjab Students Showing Strong Results

Highlighting academic achievements, Mann said Punjab recently ranked first in the National Achievement Survey conducted by the Government of India, surpassing Kerala.

The state government is also preparing students for competitive exams through specialised coaching programmes in schools.

Students are being trained for exams such as NEET, JEE, CLAT, NIFT and Armed Forces preparation.

“Around 300 students from Schools of Eminence and other government schools have qualified for JEE Main, JEE Advanced and NEET examinations,” Mann said.

Apart from education, the Chief Minister also commented on political matters, reiterating that Punjab will strongly oppose the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2025, while criticising the BJP-led Centre, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal.
