In a deeply disturbing and heart-wrenching incident, Dr. Aniljit Kamboj — father of well-known Punjabi actress Tania — was shot by two unidentified men at his clinic in Kot Ise Khan, a small town in Punjab’s Moga district, on Sunday afternoon.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the two men arrived on a motorcycle and entered Harbans Nursing Home, where Dr. Kamboj was attending to patients as usual. Pretending to be patients themselves, they struck up a conversation with him before suddenly opening fire from close range.
Police officials revealed that Dr. Kamboj had reportedly been receiving threats in the past, though no formal complaint had been filed. “It seems the attackers came with a clear plan. They posed as patients and then shot Dr. Kamboj at close range. We are looking into all possible motives, including the possibility of extortion,” said the Superintendent of Police, Moga.
The entire clinic area has now been sealed off by the police. Forensic teams are on the ground gathering evidence, and nearby CCTV footage is being reviewed in hopes of identifying the attackers. Special police teams have also been formed, and checkpoints have been set up across the district to find the culprits as quickly as possible.
This tragic incident has shocked many across Punjab, especially within the Punjabi film industry. Fans and celebrities have been pouring in messages of support and prayers for Tania and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
Tania, who has touched hearts with her performances in popular Punjabi films like ‘Qismat’, ‘Lekh’ and ‘Sufna’ has not yet made any public statement about the incident.
