Social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, known online as ‘Kamal Kaur Bhabhi’, was found d*ad in a parked car at Adesh Hospital in Bhucho, Bathinda, on Wednesday evening. Police confirmed the discovery and are investigating the case.
Kanchan, 30, was a resident of Lachman Colony in Ludhiana. She had a verified Instagram account with over 3.83 lakh followers and was active on multiple social media platforms. According to police sources, a gangster based overseas had previously criticised her for using objectionable language in her content.
Superintendent of Police (City), Narinder Singh, stated that Kanchan had left Ludhiana on June 9 for a promotional event in Bathinda and then lost contact with her family. Her body was later discovered in the back seat of a car, after locals reported a strong foul smell coming from the vehicle.
Police suspect she may have been m*rdered, and her body dumped in the car afterward. However, due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently difficult to confirm if there were any injuries. The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem.
Further action will be taken after police record the statements of her family members. The investigation is ongoing.
