Who was Radhika Yadav? A promising 25-year-old tennis player with state-level accolades, a growing presence on Instagram, and a dream to build her own sports academy. Her journey, however, was cut short in a horrifying act of violence early Thursday morning in Gurugram’s Sector 57.
Radhika was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, inside their home while she was cooking. According to the police, Deepak fired five rounds from his licensed revolver. Three bullets struck Radhika, who was rushed to a private hospital but could not survive her injuries.
Initial investigations suggest the motive may be linked to long-standing family tensions. Radhika had recently become more active on Instagram, sharing Reels that reportedly did not sit well with her father. Additionally, her decision to start a sports academy may have further strained their relationship.
The accused father was arrested on the spot, and his firearm has been seized. Gurugram Police are now looking into the digital records of both Radhika and Deepak, as well as any history of domestic disputes in the household.
This incident has shocked the local community and sparked discussions on the pressures faced by young women athletes, especially when personal ambition collides with conservative family expectations.
