Raghav Chadha Slams Trump Over Harvard Ban on International Students, Calls It Alarming

AAP MP Raghav Chadha has come down hard on former US President Donald Trump’s latest decision, which bars Harvard University from enrolling international students for the 2025-26 academic year. Chadha, a Harvard alumnus, expressed deep concern, calling the move a direct attack on academic liberty and global education.

Taking to social media, Chadha said, “Trump’s action endangers the future of thousands of international students at Harvard and beyond. As a proud member of the Harvard community, I stand for inclusion and educational freedom.”

Harvard University has responded with strong resistance, filing a legal complaint and seeking a temporary restraining order. The institution emphasized that this revocation—linked to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program—stems from alleged non-compliance, which Harvard denies.

In an official statement, Harvard’s leadership condemned the federal government’s decision as a retaliation against the university’s stand on academic independence. It stated, “This move endangers our international students, scholars, and the broader academic ecosystem in the US.”

The university reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its global community, highlighting that it had complied with all legal requests made by the Department of Homeland Security.

Meanwhile, the White House accused Harvard of fostering anti-American and antisemitic sentiments, justifying the visa revocation as a response to alleged administrative failures.

The dispute comes amid heightened political scrutiny of campus protests related to the Israel-Hamas conflict and Harvard’s diversity policies.
