Rajat Patidar, Pat Cummins Fined for Slow Over-Rate in High-Scoring IPL Clash

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins have been penalized for maintaining a slow over-rate during their recent Indian Premier League clash. While Cummins was fined ₹12 lakh as it marked SRH’s first such offence of the season, Patidar faced a steeper penalty of ₹24 lakh, given it was RCB’s second violation.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined Rs 24 lakhs,” the IPL confirmed in a statement. “The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.”

Regarding Cummins, the statement added: “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined Rs 12 Lakh.”

The game saw RCB suffer a 42-run defeat to SRH, denting their chances of a top-two finish. Chasing a massive 232, powered by Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 94 off 48 balls, RCB managed just 189—facing their first away loss this season.
