Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called upon the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to review its decision to grant a $2.1 billion bailout package to Pakistan, citing its continued support for terrorism targeting India. His remarks come amidst heightened tensions following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
While Indian forces conducted precision strikes, Pakistan was engaged in launching drone and missile attacks on both civilian and military installations in northern India. Addressing Indian Air Force personnel at the Bhuj IAF station in Gujarat, Singh expressed serious concerns over the timing and implications of the IMF’s aid.
“The IMF’s aid to Pakistan is a form of indirect funding to terror,” the Defence Minister stated during his address.
He further emphasized that financial support to Pakistan indirectly fuels terrorism against India. “Any financial assistance to Pakistan is actually terror funding. The IMF should reconsider its decision,” Singh added.
The Bhuj air base, from where several long-range strike operations were launched, was among the targets of Pakistani missile and drone attacks, all of which were successfully intercepted by India’s air defence systems.
Singh delivered his address against the backdrop of a Jaguar strike aircraft and an S-125 Pechora surface-to-air missile system, symbolizing India’s preparedness and defence capability.
