Ram Gopal Varma, who is remembered for hits like Rangeela, is more in news for controversies than his films. Now the recent case is related to a legal dispute. A complaint was filed against the producer also known as RGV at the Maddipadu police station in Prakasam district.
The Andhra Pradesh police have registered a case against him for circulating derogatory content on social media against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his family. This was all done during the promotion of his thriller film ‘Vyuham’.

The complaint was filed by TDP Mandal Secretary Ramalingam, in which Ram Gopal Varma is accused of tarnishing the reputation of several TDP leaders including CM Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, daughter-in-law Brahmani and other members of the Telugu Desam Party and circulating derogatory content against them on social media.
According to Maddipadu Sub Inspector Shiva Ramaiah, a case has been registered against him under the IT Act based on Ramalingam’s allegations. He is accused of misusing digital platforms to spread false information.
‘Vyuham’ was earlier scheduled to release in February but faced several controversies. It was later released in March, a few weeks before the elections. His social media post was part of the film’s promotion. During its release, the TDP had cautioned Varma to refrain from targeting Naidu’s family in his films. Varma has previously made controversial remarks about Lokesh and Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan, who is currently holding the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the state.
