Ranveer Allahbadia Records Statement Over Controversial “India’s Got Latent” Remark, Skipped Summons Earlier

YouTube celebrity Ranveer Allahbadia has finally recorded his statement with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on Monday in connection with the controversial “India’s Got Latent” remark. The Mumbai police had summoned Allahbadia to join the investigation after his vulgar comment on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show sparked widespread outrage.

Allahbadia’s “join parents in sex” remark during the show triggered intense criticism, leading to discussions in Parliament about the need for stricter regulations governing internet content. Despite issuing an apology for his comment, the controversy continued to grow.

Samay Raina, who is currently abroad, responded to the situation by announcing on X that he had deleted all episodes of the “India’s Got Latent” series from his YouTube channel. This move came after public backlash and mounting pressure from various quarters.

The matter also caught the attention of the Supreme Court, which condemned Allahbadia’s remarks, asserting that such behavior should not be tolerated. While the court provided him protection from arrest, it also imposed certain conditions. Allahbadia was asked to surrender his passport and refrain from traveling abroad without seeking prior permission. The case has sparked debates on online content moderation and accountability.
