Rashmika Mandanna Responds to Widely Circulated Deepfake Video, Says It’s “Extremely Scary”

Recently, there has been an incident where the well-known actress Rashmika Mandanna became embroiled in a controversy linked to a deep fake video. You also might have come across her viral fake video.

The video that quickly gained popularity on social media features a woman entering an elevator, with her face digitally modified to resemble Mandanna. This occurrence has raised significant alarm and led to demands for legal repercussions. 

Reacting to this incident Rashmika herself also addressed this incident as “extremely scary”. Rashmika took to her twitter handle and wrote, ” I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.” 

Adding to this she wrote, “Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.” 

Previously, Amitabh Bachchan, publicly called for action in response to the spread of a deepfake video featuring Rashmika. 

Also, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized that deepfakes pose a greater threat than misinformation, highlighting the urgency of implementing strict measures and regulations on platforms to combat this problem.
