Reddit Rolls Out AI Chatbot ‘Reddit Answers’ to Users in India

Reddit has expanded access to its AI-powered chatbot, Reddit Answers, to users in India and several other countries. First introduced in December 2024 for limited testing in the US, the feature is now available on the Reddit website, mobile browser, and the official iOS and Android apps.

Reddit Answers is designed to help users easily access relevant information, opinions, and recommendations from across Reddit. Users can ask questions, and the chatbot provides answers by pulling content from Reddit posts in a conversational format. On Thursday, many users noticed a new “Answers” tab on their app, located next to the Home button. The icon resembles three droplet-like shapes forming a triangle.

According to Reddit, “Reddit Answers is designed to help users find information, recommendations, discussions, and opinions on the platform.” The feature is still in beta and supports only the English language. It is currently available to users in Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK, and the US.

Usage is limited depending on the user’s login status. Logged-out users can ask up to 10 questions per week, while logged-in users can submit up to 20 queries per day. Reddit Premium subscribers using the beta version can ask up to 100 questions daily.

The chatbot appears in a full-screen interface, featuring the Reddit Alien logo, a brief description, and suggested questions. Users can enter their queries in a text field at the bottom of the screen. The chatbot responds with a summary based on relevant discussions, links to user comments, and directs users to related subreddits. It also lists the posts used to form the response. While effective with general questions, it may struggle with very niche topics. Users can rate the usefulness of each response with feedback buttons.
