Rishabh Fined, Digvesh Slammed with IPL 2025’s Heftiest Penalty for Repeat Offence

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant and leg-spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi have been penalised for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct, with the BCCI handing out separate fines for their respective violations. Pant has been fined ₹12 lakh for a slow over rate during LSG’s match against Mumbai Indians at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, held on Friday. Meanwhile, Digvesh received a harsher penalty—50% of his match fees—for repeating a past offence, marking the heftiest fine issued in IPL 2025 so far.

“Rishabh Pant, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians. As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 Lakh,” the BCCI stated.

The board opted for stricter action against Digvesh following his repeated use of the “notebook send-off” celebration, popularised by West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams. For his first offence, which involved dismissing Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya, Digvesh was fined 25% of his match fee under a Level 1 breach.
