Bollywood’s latest romantic drama Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has stirred a new controversy online. Social media users and film critics are drawing striking parallels between Saiyaara and the acclaimed 2004 Korean film A Moment to Remember, prompting accusations that the Bollywood film is an uncredited copy.

The central theme of Saiyaara revolves around a couple dealing with the devastating effects of early-onset Alzheimer’s, a storyline that mirrors the emotional arc of A Moment to Remember. Viewers point to nearly identical scenes and emotional beats, including the woman’s memory loss, the heartbroken husband’s struggles, and a touching finale that recreates a significant past moment.
Despite the heavy comparisons, the film’s director Mohit Suri and writer Sankalp Sadanah have denied that Saiyaara is a remake. In media interviews, they described the film as an “original love story” that draws emotional inspiration from many global romances, without directly lifting from any single film.

Interestingly, the film’s official Wikipedia page does mention that Saiyaara is “loosely based” on the Korean film. This admission has only fueled the fire, as critics question why the adaptation wasn’t formally credited.
This is not the first time Bollywood has faced plagiarism accusations related to Korean cinema. Similar debates erupted when Ek Villain and Murder 2 were compared to Korean thrillers. With Saiyaara, the backlash seems to be less about legality and more about respect for the source material. Here’s how the netizens reacted to Sayiaara being a copy of a Korean film-

"A Moment to Remember" is one of the classics from her filmography.
