Salman Khan Wears Ram Janmabhoomi Watch, Faces Criticism from Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi

All India Muslim Jamaat president and Barelvi cleric, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, has expressed disapproval over Bollywood actor Salman Khan sporting a limited-edition Ram Janmabhoomi-themed watch. According to Maulana Razvi, this act is considered “haram” (forbidden) under Islamic law.

In a statement issued on Friday, the cleric mentioned that he had received multiple inquiries regarding the Islamic perspective on Salman Khan’s choice of accessory.

“I have been asked about Shariat’s ruling about Salman Khan. I tell you the Shariat’s ruling about the work done by him, that he is wearing a Ram Edition watch made for the promotion of Ram Mandir. Wearing such a watch in hand being a Muslim is illegal and haram,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

He emphasized that as a well-known public figure with a significant Muslim following, Salman Khan should be mindful of actions that might be deemed un-Islamic.

“Salman Khan is a famous personality of India. He has millions of fans, and he is also a Muslim,” he stated, adding, “In such a situation, doing un-Islamic activities is against Shariat. He should avoid such activities and repent for the un-Islamic activities he has done.”

Salman Khan’s Ram Janmabhoomi-themed watch came into the limelight during the promotions of his upcoming film Sikandar. In an Instagram post related to the film, he was seen wearing the luxurious timepiece, which features an intricately designed gold dial and an orange strap. The watch’s casing bears engravings that commemorate the Ram Janmabhoomi’s historical and cultural significance, with the dial showcasing a detailed relief of the Ayodhya temple and sacred Hindu inscriptions on the bezel.

Only 49 pieces of this exclusive watch exist worldwide, and Salman Khan owns one of them. The timepiece, priced at ₹34 lakh, was a gift from his mother, Salma Khan, as the actor revealed in an interview with Hindustan Times.
