Sammy Griner aka ‘Success Kid’ Meme Boy Raise $86000 For His Father’s Treatment

If you are a meme lover then, you’re probably familiar with the “Success Kid” meme. A young baby looking confident with a fist full of sand is Sammy Griner.

This is an 8-year old boy behind “Success Kid”. Sammy Griner, and his father is in need of a kidney transplant as his father became ill in 2006 and suffered full kidney failure in 2009, forcing him to go on dialysis.

The Griner family launched a ‘Go Fund Me Campaign’ to raise money for the medical bills. The family was asking for around $75,000 and has already exceeded that goal. According to news portals, the site reached about $9,000 in just five days. And then they collected funds at over $86,000 in just a week.

Sammy’s mom, Laney Griner, told a news site that while at first she wasn’t happy that a photo from her son at the beach had gone viral, during that time she’s happy that it happened. “By now, it’s just out there. What am I going to do? At least it’s positive,” she said. “Without that happening, how much could I get this recognition about my husband’s kidney transplant?”

Further, Sammy and his parents Laney and Justin Griner were able to turn Sammy’s unexpected fame into a campaign that had support pouring in from around the world. And after that Success Kid crowdfunding campaign turned into Success Kidney.
