Rani Mukherjee and Kajol’s cousin and Bengali actor Samrat Mukherjee have come into the limelight after being arrested in Kolkata. The arrest came after an accident in Behala area of south-western Kolkata on Tuesday morning, where his car allegedly collided with a motorcycle.
According to PTI, the 29-year-old bike rider, resident of Vidyasagar Colony, Behala, was taken to Bangur Hospital. After this he was transferred to SKM Hospital for further treatment. Police said that Samrat Mukherjee was arrested. He was taken for medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Describing the incident, the bike rider said that he was returning home at around 12:30 in the night, when a car coming at high speed from the wrong direction hit him, due to which he became unconscious. Eyewitnesses present at the spot said that Samrat Mukherjee was going from Behala Chowrasta towards Tollygunge when he lost control of his vehicle, which led to the collision. After colliding with the motorcycle, his car also collided with a nearby house, damaging its boundary wall.
Samrat Mukherjee, cousin of Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Tanisha Mukherjee and ‘Brahmastra’ director Ayan Mukherjee, has also acted in many Hindi films. He was seen in Bollywood films like ‘Ram Aur Shyam’, ‘Bhai Bhai’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Sikandar Sadak Ka’ and ‘Hum Hain Rahi Kar Ke’.
