Sana Makbul Diagnosed With Liver Cirrhosis, Undergoing Immunotherapy to Avoid Liver Transplant

TV actor Sana Makbul has revealed she is battling liver cirrhosis and undergoing immunotherapy, determined to avoid a liver transplant.

Known for her appearance on Bigg Boss OTT, the 32-year-old left fans worried after a recent photo from a hospital bed surfaced online. In a candid interview with Hindustan Times, Sana confirmed her diagnosis and opened up about her ongoing struggle with autoimmune hepatitis, which has now progressed into liver cirrhosis.

“I’ve been dealing with autoimmune hepatitis for a while now,” she shared. “Recently, my immune system became more aggressive and started attacking my liver. Now, I’ve been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. But I’m staying strong, one day at a time.”

Sana has started intensive immunotherapy in hopes of avoiding a transplant. “It’s exhausting, some days are harder than others. But I’m holding on to hope. I just want to recover without needing such a major procedure,” she said.

The health condition has also disrupted her work commitments. “It didn’t happen overnight. I’ve had to pause some work, and that hurts, especially after working so hard. But even if I’m moving slower now, I’m still moving and that matters.”

She acknowledged the emotional and financial toll her illness has taken, praising her family for being her biggest support. “My mom’s silent strength, my dad’s brave face, none of it goes unnoticed. Healing is not just medical, it’s about love too.”

Despite the challenges, Sana remains optimistic. “This is just a phase. I’m a fighter. I’ll come back stronger.”
