‘He Could Have Done Better But…’: Sargun Mehta Comments On Aamir Khan’s Punjabi Accent In Laal Singh Chaddha

The upcoming Bollywood movie Laal Singh Chaddha is continuously in news for its release. It stars Aamir Khan in the leading role, with Kareena Kapoor Khan opposite him. The film’s trailer grabbed the attention of many when it was released and also invited various opinions from netizens.

No doubt that maximum people liked the trailer of the official remake of the Hollywood movie Forest Gump released in 1994. But on the other hand, there are some people who are not so happy with Aamir Khan’s Punjabi accent in the film. Yes, Aamir will be playing a Sikh character in the film, and his accent in the trailer has not actually impressed the real Punjabis.

And recently, in a conversation with India.com, Punjabi actress Sargun Mehta also shared her opinion. On being asked what she thinks about Aamir Khan speaking Punjabi in Laal Singh Chaddha, Sargun said, ‘If Aamir would have said in pure Punjabi, nobody could have understood. If the superstar next does a Bengali film and use too much of Bengali words, then we’ll be not able to understand it.’

The Angrej actress also went on to say, ‘Aamir Khan sir is not a Punjabi and he has taken up a role. Actors are supposed to take versatile roles. I can say that he could have done a bit better but jitna bhi unhone kia hain bahot kaam and mehnat lagti hain sirf utna karne mein bhi.’

Sargun has kept forward her opinion that she believes Bollywood intentionally has to make minor changes in any second language. It is done so that maximum people understand and can relate to it.
Moreover, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha will hit the theater halls on 11 August 2022 which will also face a clash with another Bollywood movie Raksha Bandhan starring Akshay Kumar.
