The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu has announced that educational institutions in non-border districts will reopen starting Tuesday, allowing students to resume their academic schedules. However, due to ongoing security concerns, schools in border districts will continue to remain shut. “The Education Department has announced the reopening of educational institutions in non-border districts of Jammu, while schools in border districts will remain closed. This decision was made after a thorough review of the situation by Divisional Commissioner Jammu,” read a post from the divisional commissioner on X.
Deputy Commissioner of Jammu confirmed that institutions in border districts—Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch—will stay closed. On Monday, authorities had announced the closure of all schools and colleges across Jammu province for May 13, except for medical colleges, due to prevailing tensions. “All Schools, Colleges, and educational institutions (private as well as Government) in the Jammu province, except the Medical colleges, shall remain closed tomorrow, May 13th, in view of the prevailing situation,” the Divisional Commissioner posted on X.
Meanwhile, Air India has begun working toward restarting flight operations at several airports including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, and others after their temporary closure. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, successfully destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, dealing a major blow to terrorist networks.
