Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan’s security cover has been increased amid the threats that the actor is allegedly receiving. Srk has now been provided with Y+ security.
As per ANI, the Maharashtra police shared that Shahrukh Khan gave a written complaint to the state government that the actor has been receiving death threats and calls after the success of his films Jawan and Pathan.
Earlier this year too, Shahrukh Khan’s film Pathaan raged controversy and the actor received threats because of Pathaan’s song ‘ Besharam Rang’.
Quoting Indian Express, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department immediately informed the SPUs, district police and all the police commissionerates in the state to provide “Y+ with an escort scale of security to Khan with immediate effect”.
Under the Y+ security, Shahrukh Khan will be surrounded by 6 armed security guards throughout. Earlier he only had 2 security personnels with him.
Other Bollywood celebrities who were given Y+ security
Salman Khan
Salman Khan was given Y+ security this year after the numerous death threats by Lawrence Bishnoi’s Gang. The number of security personnels around him were increased by the state government amid non stop death threats.
Vivek Agnihotri
Vivek Agnihotri was given a Y+ security cover after the release of his film The Kashmir Files. Vivek Agnihotri apparently received several death threats after the release of his film and which is why the filmmaker’s security cover was increased.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut was also provided with Y+ security cover in 2020 after her controversy with MP Sanjay Raut. She explained her security cover by saying “I am not just a Bollywood star sir, I am also a very vocal and concerned citizen, I was the target of political malice in Maharashtra, at my expense nationalists could make a government here. I also spoke about tukde gang and strongly condemned Khalistani groups. I am also a filmmaker, writer and producer and my next production Emergency involves operation Bluestar… there is evident treat to my life hence I requested for extended security.”
