Colombian pop singer Shakira is a global star who has been in the news for a long time regarding her tax fraud case. Shakira had been maintaining her innocence in this case till now, but on Monday she agreed to the settlement. At the same time, now Shakira will have to pay a huge amount of crores to the Spanish government, which she had been avoiding till now.

On Monday, Shakira was summoned to appear in a Barcelona court in a tax fraud case. During this time Shakira agreed to a settlement with the Spanish authorities.

Shakira and her legal team had been calling these allegations false till now, but on Monday the singer agreed to pay the fine. Shakira’s agent said on Friday, that she has received a suspended prison sentence of 3 years and a fine of approximately 60 crores (6.6 million euros).

These allegations of tax evasion against Shakira are from 2012 to 2014. According to the Quint report, Spanish authorities have claimed that Shakira spent more than half of her time in Spain between 2012 and 2014. So she should have paid taxes in the country, even though her official home is in the Bahamas. In April, Shakira moved to Miami, Florida with her two sons after her split with ex Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
