Ranbir Kapoor has finally made his comeback to the silver screen after 4 long years with Shamshera. If you are planning to make your way to the theaters for this latest release of Ranbir then earliest of all read this Shamshera movie review to get a quick insight of this latest Bollywood release.

Made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, Shamshera is an action-packed adventurous historical drama. The Karan Malhotra directorial movie stars some of the big names from B-town including Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Ronit Roy & others. Without spoiling much, we’ve penned this Shamshera Movie Review to guide you to the best of the pre-watching experience of the movie Shamshera.

Story & Screenplay

As the trailer had already revealed, the plot of Shamshera revolves around a dacoit ‘Shamshera’ who belongs to a tribe called Khamiran. Shamshera, played by Ranbir Kappor, fights for the glory, respect and freedom of his tribe. However, he got deceived by the British Government and thus he along with his whole tribe got captured by the britishers in a fort. The main architect of this conspiracy was Daroga Shuddh Singh portrayed by Sanjay Dutt. Interestingly, he is also the main villain of the story. However, Shamshera builds a plan for the freedom of his people; he fails or succeeds? You need to watch the movie for that.

But after some time Shamshera’s son Balli, also played by Ranbir Kapoor, wishes to join the British police force as an officer. But some events encourage him to stand and fight for his people. Will he get the freedom of his people? Or he just dies as a hero? This movie is all about it.

If we talk about the screenplay in one sentence then the screenplay was good but sometimes it felt slow and stretched. However, some scenes were outstanding too. Entrances of the main villain, Daroga Shuddh Singh, romantic scenes of Ranbir-Vaani chemistry and some more such sequences added charm to the film.

There were many twists and turns in the story. However, the climax was dull and predictable. But the action scenes throughout the movie were the best part of the movie.

Acting & Performance

The lead, Ranbir Kapoor, as expected has nailed his role, oh sorry double role. He has portrayed the characters of Shamshera, a determined and fierce dacoit and Balli, the son of Shamshera. Ranbir was brilliant in delivering the emotions, charm, charisma and everything that his characters aimed to convey.

We have seen Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Cheena and we already knew what magic he can spell as an antagonist. Sanjay has brilliantly played the role of Daorga Shuddh Singh, a crazy Maniac Police officer. Sanjay Dutt’s dialogue delivery, expression and body language all suited this character like he was born to play this character.

Vaani Kapoor, B-town’s most sizzling actress right now, played the role of Sona, the love interest of Balli. She got less screen time, but every time she was on screen, she never failed to bring the heat on.

Saurabh Shukla and Ronit Roy were too good in their short but effective roles. And we are also satisfied with the performance of other supporting actors.

Direction & Editing

Karan Malhotra has done a great job in the making of this period drama. His hard work can be felt at each and every scene. However, he could have done more with the pace and story of the movie. But apart from that, his work is commendable and definitely deserves huge applause from fans and critics.

Editing of the movie is one aspect that was phenomenal. Though we believe a bit of more hard work could have helped the length of the film (which is 3 hours long). The cinematography itself was on peak level. Some action scenes were no where less than hollywood stunners.

Music & BGM

The songs were not the best part of the movie. The music director could have done a better job in the making of the album. But not in a single second the background score failed to amaze the audience. Background score perfectly complemented the screenplay of the movie.

Overall

Shamshera, the Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback has a lot to offer to the fans and to the lovers of good movies. Team Kiddaan rates Shamshera 3 out of 5 stars for giving us one of the best entertainers of this year.
