Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who led the all-party delegation for the global outreach initiative on Operation Sindoor, delivered stern warnings to Pakistan and terrorist groups. However, his remarks have drawn criticism from some members within his own party.
Congress leader Udit Raj criticized Tharoor sharply, dubbing him the “super spokesperson of the BJP.” Raj accused Tharoor of expressing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government more emphatically than even BJP leaders themselves.
“Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is the super spokesperson of the BJP, and what the BJP leaders are not saying, speaking in favour of PM Modi and the government, Shashi Tharoor is doing…Does he (Shashi Tharoor) even know what the earlier governments used to do?… They (the Central government) are taking credit for the Indian Armed Forces,” Raj told ANI.
Tharoor is at the helm of one of several multi-party delegations traveling to India’s global partner countries, aiming to share India’s firm stance on terrorism. His delegation includes members from BJP, JMM, TDP, Shiv Sena, and former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Sandhu.
During a briefing at the Indian embassy in Panama, Tharoor emphasized the country’s resolute action against terrorists in recent years.
“What has changed in recent years is that the terrorists have also realised they will have a price to pay, on that, let there be no doubt,” Tharoor stated.
