During a recent press conference in the United States, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor encountered an unexpected question from his son, journalist Ishaan Tharoor, concerning India’s Operation Sindoor. The operation, a military strike in Pahalgam targeting terror threats linked to the 2008 Mumbai attacks and Osama bin Laden’s networks, has been a topic of international discussion.
Ishaan inquired whether any Western governments had requested evidence of Pakistan’s involvement and how India addressed Pakistan’s denials. Shashi Tharoor, momentarily surprised, responded with humor, saying, “I’m very glad you raised this. I didn’t plant it, I promise you. This guy does this to his dad.”
He then emphasized that India would not have undertaken such an operation without convincing evidence. Tharoor highlighted the pattern of repeated terror attacks from Pakistan over 37 years and the country’s consistent denials. He referenced the U.S. experience with Osama bin Laden being found in a Pakistani safe house near a military camp, underscoring the challenges in addressing cross-border terrorism.
Tharoor is part of an all-party delegation visiting various countries to present India’s stance on terrorism and Operation Sindoor. The candid exchange between father and son added a personal dimension to the serious geopolitical discussions, drawing attention from both Indian and international media.
