Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram Criticize Pakistan Team After Heavy India Defeat in CT 2025

Rohit Sharma’s India once again handed Pakistan a heavy defeat, winning by six wickets in a crucial Champions Trophy 2025 encounter in Dubai. Pakistan’s performance was so dismal that it never looked like a competitive contest. Despite all the pre-match hype and anticipation, Pakistan’s campaign has virtually ended, with captain Mohammad Rizwan admitting that their hopes in the ongoing tournament were dashed after the loss.

Pakistan’s recent series of poor performances have now become almost expected, and former players were not surprised by the result. Fans and analysts from Pakistan had already anticipated a loss to India in this crucial Champions Trophy match. Shoaib Akhtar, famously known as the ‘Rawalpindi Express,’ stated that he wasn’t disappointed by Pakistan’s loss, as he had already predicted it. Legendary figures like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, and Shoaib Malik have all openly expressed their frustration with the team’s ongoing struggles and the management’s role in the downfall.

Shoaib Akhtar took to social media to criticize the team management, going as far as calling them “brainless and clueless.” He also posted a video of former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik singing the famous song “Dil Ke Armaan Aansoon Mein Beh Gaye,” symbolizing the team’s emotional plight. Akram, another former cricketer, didn’t hold back in his criticism, urging Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi to step in and ask tough questions regarding the team’s performance.

Akram echoed the need for significant changes within the team to ensure better preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Waqar Younis, a former player and coach, also lamented the lack of discipline, particularly among the bowlers, and remarked that no one seems to have a clear understanding of why Pakistan’s cricket team is failing.
