Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill left fans intrigued with a cryptic social media post after his team’s victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday. Following the win, Gill took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a seven-word message: “Eyes on the game, not the noise.”

While he did not provide any clarification, many social media users speculated that “the noise” referred to Virat Kohli’s animated celebrations after his dismissal.

After leading GT to a dominant win over RCB, Gill commended his bowlers for their efforts in the opening seven to eight overs, which helped the team secure early breakthroughs. RCB, having registered impressive away victories against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), faltered in their first home game, suffering an eight-wicket defeat as GT delivered a commanding performance with both bat and ball.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Gill said, “We have seen on this ground, that restricting them to 170 was a good effort. The wicket has something in it sometimes; you can score 250 as well as get early wickets, there was something for the fast bowlers in the first 7-8 overs and we knew if we pick early wickets then we are in the game. You are disappointed (on his team’s dropped catches), but you need to keep coming back and grab the next opportunity. We batted professionally, considering the wicket. It is all about adapting to the situation and playing according to that.”
As for the match, GT won the toss and opted to field first. Former RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj (3/19) struck early, reducing his old team to 42/4. A 52-run partnership between Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma (33 off 20 balls, including five fours and a six) provided some stability, followed by a 46-run stand for the seventh wicket between Livingstone (54 off 40 balls, with a four and five sixes) and Tim David (32 off 18 balls, with three fours and two sixes). Their efforts helped RCB post a total of 169/8 in 20 overs, but it proved insufficient against GT’s dominant performance.
