The month of June 2021 marks the celebration LGBT Pride month to recognize the impact the community has had on the world. Many Pride events are celebrated in the month and people all over the world come together to show solidarity to the community.

Punjabi actresses Simi Chahal and Sara Gurpal are the first from the industry to recognize and celebrate the movement. Sara Gurpal uploaded posts on her instagram using the hashtag #PRIDE to protest for the rights of the LGBTQ community.

Simi Chahal also uploaded a couple of stories on her Instagram to show support for the community and recognize June Pride Month.

The month of June is recognized as the historical Pride Month and every year a number of Pride events are organized to recognize the LGBTQ community, to fight for their rights in society and to remember the famous incident that took place in the United States in 1969, the Stonewall Riots.

The Stonewall riots were the result of a police raid that began in the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The police became violent and then the members of the gay community and lesbian community led a series of demonstrations against the raid. The event took place on the day of 28 June and is regarded as one of the most important key events leading to the Gay Liberation movement.

And for this reason, June is recognized as the Pride Month of the year to remember the Stonewall Riots incident. It is a moment of PRIDE for all the Punjabis that leading actresses of our industry, Simi Chahal and Sara Gurpal, have decided to raise their voice for the rights of a community suffering for years.
